| The sub contract for dam embankment construction was awarded to ourselves and work began in November 2006 on the 1km long , 1 million tonne rock fill dam embankment.
In order to produce the vast quantity of rock required, borrow pits and quarries were opened. Drilling & blasting, crushing & screening operations played a vital role in the success of the contract.
Following on from the award of the dam embankment, multiple sub contracts were awarded to ourselves for the network of intake pipelines to supply water to the dam reservoir. In total there are 15 intakes supplying the reservoir. pipelines ranging from 0.6 to 2.0m diameter HDPE weholite pipes.
In total some 9.5 km of pipeline were constructed. |

Work began on the main pipeline contract at the end of August 2007, consisting of 4.5km of 1.8m & 2.0m Weholite pipes including access roads out to the end of the pipeline. This contract is due for completion in August 2008.
Environmental control is a major factor within the project, our control and involvement has been recognised as one of the best in the field of construction works. River diversions and sediment management are amongst the tasks undertaken by our dedicated environmental team.
Further sub contract work has commenced on the extensive reinstatement of the area.
This again is another area of our work recognised for excellence amongst the various authorities. |
